Dr Hassan Abbas, an Associate Dentist at Surbiton Dental, brings his expertise and a genuine enthusiasm for dental care to our practice. His journey in dentistry began in the diverse communities of East London, between Ilford and Romford, leading him to the Plymouth School of Medicine and Dentistry. Influenced profoundly by his wife, mother, and university friends, Dr. Abbas credits them with instilling in him the confidence and belief necessary to reach the professional heights he aspires to. His professional life is characterised by a dedication to ensuring a smooth operation within the practice and enhancing patient experiences, guided by mentors like Dr Naveed Maan, Dr Mohsin O Ali, Dr Adeel Ali, Dr Shamir Chandarana, and not least, Dr James Connan, whose attributes he admires and learns from.

Dr Abbas’s approach to dentistry is informed by a philosophy that values knowledge sharing, encapsulated in his favourite quote, “Everything has a tax and the tax on knowledge is to teach.” His interests, including a desire to learn guitar, mirror his commitment to continuous personal and professional development. Dr. Abbas finds inspiration in various facets of life, from the clinical skills and work-life balance of his peers to the storytelling of the Harry Potter series and the soulful melodies of Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together.” Meeting Dave Chappelle stands out as a dream for him, indicative of his appreciation for insightful and transformative conversations.

Outside of his dental practice, Dr. Abbas values time spent with family, engaging in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and relaxing with board games during Christmas. His passion for his family, work, and Jiu-Jitsu defines much of his life’s fulfilment, alongside a craving for adventure, evidenced by his cliff diving experience in Morocco. Dr. Abbas’s definition of success revolves around maintaining a healthy work-life balance, enjoying his profession, and having the means to cherish holidays with his loved ones.
