Dental Hygienist

Esti Mayans, a valued dental hygienist in Surbiton, brings a wealth of experience and a calm, compassionate approach to every appointment. Born in Spain, Esti moved to England at the age of three, spent part of her teenage years in South Africa, and returned to the UK just in time for her A-levels. Her multicultural upbringing has helped shape her open-minded and friendly character, making her a favourite among patients of all backgrounds.

Esti first pursued a degree in Spanish at Exeter University before going on to study Law at Kingston University. However, she soon realised that legal work wasn’t the right fit for her. Inspired by her older sister, who had qualified as a dental hygienist, Esti decided to follow a more hands-on, caring profession. She trained at King’s Hospital, graduating in 2004 as a GDC-registered dental hygienist.

Since then, Esti has become an experienced hygienist at Surbiton Dental, well known for her gentle touch and thorough approach to professional dental cleaning in Surbiton. She’s particularly passionate about preventive dental care, helping patients protect their oral health through education, regular hygiene appointments, and tailored advice.

Working at Surbiton Dental has been especially rewarding for Esti, thanks to the exceptional team spirit and state-of-the-art facilities. She enjoys being part of a progressive practice that invests in modern technology like the AirFlow Prophylaxis Master, an advanced system she refers to as a “real game changer” in delivering more comfortable and effective cleanings.

Esti is a firm believer in continuous growth and learning. If she had the chance to master a new skill, she’d love to learn to play the piano. When she’s not in the clinic, you’ll often find her walking her beloved dog, Alfie, enjoying nature, or supporting causes close to her heart, especially animal welfare. Her favourite film is Forrest Gump, her go-to book is Wuthering Heights, and her favourite song (reflecting her 1980s childhood) is Cruel Summer by Bananarama.

If she weren’t excelling in hygiene care, Esti imagines herself working as an animal behaviourist. And if given the chance to meet anyone, she’d choose the warm and witty Dawn French.
